Grid Paper Printable

I first noticed grid paper being used on Squared Eye’s re-design early last year. That site got a lot of recognition (rightly so) and I wonder if it’s been a contributing factor in this growing trend. I’ve spotted the increased use of this in the last 3 months mostly on the sites of design studios and freelancer’s portfolios. I think this is because of the associations grid paper has with the design process, often used at the planning stage. For me, its use also adds a slight warmth to the page, breaking what would otherwise be a bare background. Grid Paper Printable is simply a page covered with a continuous square grid. It is often called “quadrille paper” or “quad paper.” The squares usually have a specific size such as 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch – which gives the paper a name such as “1/2 Inch Grid Paper.” No axes are drawn on grid paper. This type of paper is often used for student graphing assignments where the teacher gives students the responsibility of determining scale and drawing the axes.

Grid Paper Printable is the type of graph paper most often used for art and drawing projects. It is used for creating floor plans, designing web pages, creating cross-stitch patterns, planning construction projects and many other purposes. Many people who use it believe that a quick pencil and paper sketch can be created in a fraction of the time required to make the same sketch with a computer program. This works well for a single draft, but if multiple refining drafts are required, then the computer program begins to have an advantage.

We have six different Grid Paper Printable that you can print for personal or academic use. Please print as many sheets as you want. They are provided as printable .pdf documents, formatted to print on a standard sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper. To print them you will need a pdf document reader such as Adobe ReaderThough I do return the correct header for a PDF, sometimes Explorer gets confused when downloading… So if you’re running Windows, you may need to right-click a link and choose “Save link to disk”. Tip number two! Some people may need to turn off the option in Adobe’s Acrobat reader “shrink to fit” which may resize the grid slightly to fit your printer’s printable area. Tip number three! (for hex and iso). If you want the hexes aligned with the other edge of the paper, just make your paper size “11 x 8.5” and print the result in landscape mode!
